Standing at midcourt at about 9:15 Wednesday night, Doremus Bennerman stewed. A growling, snarling look encompassed his usually polite face. He was officially steamed.
Bennerman thought he should be boarding the Siena College team bus by now, not getting ready to play more basketball at the Sutter Gymnasium against Wagner College.
But that's where he was.
A Bennerman miscue at the end of regulation allowed Wagner to get to overtime but that's where the Saint point guard left the Seahawks.
Bennerman scored a career-high 36 points as the Saints beat Wagner 81-79 in overtime. Siena is now 5-1 and will return to Knickerbocker Arena Saturday night to play undefeated Virginia Commonwealth at 7:30.
